WELCOME TO THE 2019 KOLAK CHRISTMAS LIGHT SHOW WEBSITE
We are so glad you could join us! The Kolak Christmas Light Show is a show created by Kevin Kolak that displays christmas lights synchronized to music. This website is to share information for the Kolak Christmas Light Show for you to view it either in person or online. Check out the cause for this year below and leave feedback either on our Facebookpage or on the feedback page.
If you’ve seen the show before, you’re going to be noticing some big changes! We are transitioning from incandescent lights to pixel lights. We have some similar features around the yard, but by replacing the each bulb with a pixel containing a computer chip, it can be controlled independently of the other lights surrounding it. We can’t wait for you to see everything this new show has to offer! Tune in to 100.3 FM to hear the songs that the lights are synchronized to.
See the light shows live, starting on November 30, 2019 Hours:Sunday–Thursday5:30 - 10:00 PM | Friday & Saturday5:30 - 10:30 PM (possibly 11PM depending on traffic).
We are continuing the Christmas tradition of helping others by collecting donations to support a local cause. Thank you to all who contributed in the past years! The light show is played for a 5 week span over the holidays, and during this time we accept donations. Last year, even amid some technical difficulties, we collected $7,300 for Lorelei McIntyre-Brewer, who was born with Hypolastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), which means she has no left side of her heart. To some, she’s known as #thegirlwiththebrokenheart. 2-years ago, we were completely overwhelmed when we were able to give $10,061.00 to Avielle Zerance, who was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, a childhood disease of the liver. After she was able to have a liver transplant, she developed a cancer associated with organ donation and with treatment reached remission, but continues to live with the risks that come with those illnesses and treatments. We were amazed by the support received in 2016 for the Bankert family who lost Alan, husband and father of four, in a car accident. It was an honor to give them $8,879.00 in donations from the Light Show. In 2015, we donated $6,823 to Gracelyn Snyder as she was battling JMML, a rare form of Leukemia. In 2014, we were able to collect $6,252 which was donated to Deven Jackson for custom running blades after Meningitis led to the amputation of both his legs. The previous year we we donated $2,487 to Vaughn Schlachter during his battle with AML (a form of Leukemia). Before that we donated $1,774 to Hope Parente in her battle against brain cancer. You can read more about each story in the Previous Years pages found in the menu. To sum it up, each year the support of our community astounds us and we thank you!
{new this year} The process of connecting with this year’s recipient, Tina Berry, was a little different from previous years. We heard her story from a friend and reached out to Tina to talk to her about being the recipient, but those who know Tina also know that she is one to help others, many in the Perry County Community, long before asking anything for herself. There is no time like now for us to rally behind such a thoughtful member of our community.
Tina and her husband, Neil, have lived in Perry County for over 30 years. They raised their 3 children in Elliottsburg where the kids attended West Perry and then moved to Blain where they lived for 20 years. That is the current location of Roberto's Pizza & Subs owned by Tina. She and her husband have since moved to New Germantown while still owning and managing Roberto's.
In February of 2019, Tina was diagnosed with a life threatening blood disorder, a type of cancer. Is has been a battle from the very start with seemingly constant doctor appointments in Hershey, some times as many as 4 (or more) appointments in the same day. Insurance only covers certain aspects and of course there are copays for every appointment, and beyond the expenses you think of are all of the behind the scenes expenses that you might not. Things like travel, lodging if you have to stay overnight, so many little costs that add up quite quickly in dire situations like Tina's.
Not only is Tina encountering a trying year medically, since her diagnosis her business has had a few unexpected challenges including her pizza oven breaking down and her cooler stopped functioning. Her medical costs are forcing her to reconsider the reality of repairing two of the most expensive pieces of equipment in her kitchen. In July, Tina had to take a step back from working at Roberto's and often praises her staff working there for stepping up and helping her in this difficult time. How cruel for Tina to have to face this situation and the possibility of losing such a labor of love. We cannot cure cancer, but we can relieve just a little of her concern and stress that will hopefully send her on a more positive journey this life.
The day before opening night of the Light Show, Tina received news that she will have to receive chemo treatment for the the rest of her life, which is news she did not want to hear. She will be receiving additional information about these treatments on December 5th, so lets raise her up and shine a little light on Tina so that she is has the strength, both mentally and physically to fight on.
If you have enjoyed our light shows, please consider making a contribution towards this cause by placing your donation in the slotted box sitting on top of the lighted "Listen to the Lights" sign. Or, contributions can be mailed to 1976 Shermans Valley Road, Elliottsburg, PA 17024. Please make any checks payable to Kevin Kolak and write Tina Berry in the memo line.
Please keep Tina and her family in your prayers this Holiday Season. **100% of the contributions will go to Tina Berry**
Grand Total in Donations: $7,244.00
